China’s largest mobile crowdsourcing company, Wei Chai Shi(Micro Task), and the Shanghai based market research agency nQuire China, today announced a partnership aimed at creating China’s largest mobile research panel – CrowdSurvey (微言眾聽).

With over 1 million and growing members of Wei Chai Shi to draw from, the two companies believe they can recruit as many as 500,000 mobile panelists for surveys and focus groups by the end of the year, and it won’t be just the large number that makes this platform different.

“We intend to create a Do-It-Yourself research tool that allows any research group to ask up to 10 questions and receive immediate responses from targeted group of panelists”, said Charles Pei, CEO of Wei Chai Shi. He added, “Our focus is around disseminating research activities to our mobile crowdsourcing base, to keep them engaged. So even our paid research offering will be at a low price, far lower than our competitors, we believe.”

nQuire China’s president, Tom Fuller, is enthusiastic about the potential for the mobile panel. “Doing research via mobile phone offers real advantages for researchers. We can follow them (with their permission) using geolocation. We can verify their identity using their mobile, as well as their compensation agreement with Wei Chai Shi. And mobile phones can capture data as well as report opinions—we can ask our respondents to take pictures, send us videos, SMS text messages and even do audio recordings.” Fuller added, “We will also be exploring opportunities in mystery shopping and store auditing, two areas where crowdsourcing is already having an impact in Western markets.”

CrowdSurvey mobile panel offering will be available starting in May. Fuller insists that it will meet standard industry guidelines for appropriate research activities. “We will build this panel in accordance with ESOMAR (a market research association) guidelines and adhere to ethical standards about market research on every project.”
